Track Roller bearings (also known as cam followers) are characterised by thick-walled outer rings that run directly on a track. This permits high load-carrying capability while minimizing distortion and bending stresses.
These bearings, which contain a full complement of needle rollers, are available in two basic designs: with an inner ring for straddle mounting in a yoke or with an integral stud for cantilever mounting. A screwdriver slot or hexagonal wrench socket in the head of the stud facilitates mounting. Sealed designs with internal thrust washers help extend service life under conditions of infrequent re-lubrication.
Reliance stock a range of Cam followers are available in stud or yoke versions and are available in three types of internal construction:
- Full complement needle rollers.
- Retainer type needle rollers.
- Cylindrical rollers.
Track rollers are self-retaining, single or double row units with particularly thick-walled outer rings. These bearings can support axial forces in both directions as well as high radial forces. The bearing outer rings have a crowned or cylindrical outside surface. Designs with a crowned outside surface are used where there is misalignment in relation to the raceway and edge stresses must be avoided. The track rollers are available with an inner ring, with a stud and with a plastic tyre on the outer ring.
Yoke Type Track Rollers
Yoke type track rollers are single or double row units fitted on studs. They comprise thick-walled outer rings with a profiled outside surface and needle roller and cage assemblies or full complement sets of cylindrical or needle rollers. Yoke type track rollers can support high radial loads and axial loads arising from misalignments and skewed running and are suitable for cam drives, slideways, conveying equipment etc. The bearings are available with or without an inner ring as well as in open and sealed versions.

Stud Type Track Rollers
Stud type track rollers comprise thick-walled outer rings with a profiled outside surface, solid roller studs with a locating thread, thrust washers and needel roller and cage assemblies or single or double row full complement sets of cylindrical or needle rollers. They can support high radial loads and axial loads arising from misalignments and skewed running and are suitable for cam drives, slideways, conveying equipment etc.
